World book day costume - help!

Post by CoffeeCup »

DS1 is year 6. I have had my fill of World book day costume ideas. Please tell me what my 10.5 year old son can wear? I suggested Mr Bump but he wasn't too pleased.

Thanks!

PS I have 10 days to get it together

What about James Bond? Just need a waistcoat and a few pretend gadgets.

Oooh good idea, thanks. Except he's never read any (nor seen the films) so I don't think it will work....

In the last few years I've done:
Where's Wally (red and white striped jumper, red and white bobble hat, 3d cinema glasses with the lenses popped out)
Dennis the Menace (red and black striped jumper, tousled and gelled hair, shorts, sticking plaster, catapult)
The boy in the striped Pyjamas (obvious!)
Asterix (converted viking helmet with "wings" to replace the horns, wooden dagger, black t-shirt, red trousers, green belt)
Hercule Poirot (suit, black hat, bow tie, cane, stick on moustache)

Has he read "The series of unfortunate events" books? We recently dressed DD as Violet Baudelaire. I would think Klaus would be quite simple - old fashioned looking clothes, glasses, head in a book!

This is his current idea!

There are some other good ideas - I wonder if I can persuade him to go in his PJs? I can't help but think by year 6 they are done with dressing up for the whle day at school.....

Many thanks everyone (keepnthe ideas coming!)

PS my favourite world book day costume I made was the Gruffalo - but this was so much easy when they were 5!

My 5 year old last year went as Harry and the Bucket Full of Dinosaurs. Normal casual clothes, seaside bucket, toy dinosaurs - sorted! Took about 2 minutes to put together.

Another we have done is Charlie Bucket - scruffy clothes, chocolate bar and large gold ticket.

And Okanagan - I have done Harry and his Dinosaurs as well, brilliantly easy for a little one.
