Results Day 7th March for January sitting - English???

Post by secondtime »

Could someone explain (in words of one syllable!) what the results slip will show for English on 7th March.

My DS says the UMS/Grade will not be there (for English only). How does he determine if it is a good score?
How do you know if you want to do the resit in June?

Totally confused when I searched on AQA website - does anyone have a basic insight?

Grade Q is given. I have looked at the last three entries to guess. Shocking behaviour on the part of OFQUAL.

This means that they want to fudge the scores. The reason that UMS are done on every sitting is that some papers are harder than others. There shouldn't be any reason not to give the scores now unless they don't trust themselves to calculate a standardised score.

I believe they will get raw marks but grade boundaries won't be set until the summer.

Raw marks were given, the email just gave Q. I feel so sorry for the children.

You can get a rough idea from last year's grade boundaries but after the 'issues' last year they are waiting to compare the cohort to their KS2 levels in 2008.

Does anyone know if they were a good year or not?

If they were, the number of students getting higher grades can creep up a little.

National data at L4+ and L5 English was higher than 2007.
