School buses to Kendrick

Post by BaileyLane »

Hi all
I hope this isn't an insensitive topic to start while some are still waiting for confirmation of a place.... I just wondered if someone could tell me if there are any actual school buses to Kendrick or is it just public transport? There's a school bus that leaves very close from where we live, but I think now it might just be for the Abbey and St Jo's.

Kendrick website says only about public transport.

Thank for you help

your best bet is to try Horsemans as they provide the buses for Abbey etc. I know Kendrick parents have asked if they can travel on Abbey buses before but were just referred to Horsemans

I've seen a school bus for kendrick, abbey, St. Joes, Reading and Bulmershe near the uni in the past. I also see a bus for Reading school waiting near Asda when I'm on the way to work.
You have to dig around in the Reading Buses website to find info though it wasn't easy to find. I don't know where you live but hth. Scroll down to the end.

Thank you, that's really useful.
Blimey, the buses go early! We're 2 min walking distance from the local primary so most days I don't get out of bed until 8am - looks like life will really be changing for everyone - not that I'm complaining :D

Kendrick start quite early too 8:25?, I think the school opens earlier.

We live near a frequent bus route so won't be using a 'school' bus. After looking at the routes and times we decided that the normal bus we use is a better bet and I've seen Kendrick girls use it.

On nice days I think DD will walk as it is just over half an hour to walk there.

DD will walk, even on not nice days, as by the time she gets to a bus stop she could be half way to school. Plus I think the cost of the 17 bus is extortionate.

We are too far to walk the whole way, although the public bus route seems to drop them quite far from the school, and they have to walk across v busy roads.

My DD is sensible but I am having severe heart palpitations/over-protective mum issues at the thought of her doing it by herself. I am hoping DD will find some friends that live close-ish, to catch a bus or car share, but no one else has a place from the 3 primary schools closest to us so I planned to ask the school in June if anyone else is coming from our way. I figure the list would be more or less finalised by then.

The roads they cross are busy, but there are crossings with lights, and huge numbers of kids crossing at them - it's not like just sending her out on her own to cross a main road :-) Driving would be a complete pain, don't even think about it ;) Within about a fortnight you'll be wondering why you ever worried, I *promise* :)

Hello,
My dd will be taking the bus to town (10 mins) and then will be walking to Kendrick. I will be teaching her how to do that by doing several rounds on the bus with her  . Once she gets the whole thing, we will time ourselves in the morning to see how long it will take her to get there by 8:15 ..pheww!!
