What's your favourite book?
Pride and Prejudice tops teachers' favourite 100 books. What's your favourite book of all time?

I honestly couldn't say, it depends what mood I'm in.

The Diary of a Nobody by Grossmith. Others may come and go but this one is always there.

Fiction: To Kill A Mockingbird.
Non-Fiction: "Enigma" by Hugh Sebag-Montefiore - the story of Bletchley Park, etc.
Desert Island Discs Choice: The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.
Can't Sleep: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I'm asleep by the end of Chapter 4, without fail.
My taste in literature is rather eclectic!

Great Expectations but I do love P and P as well. Play would be An Inspector calls and Macbeth. DG
Re: What's your favourite book?
Oooooh. So many to choose from: I love GE, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Color (sic) Purple, and P&P ( although insightful, Austen becomes very predictable after a few books) but my all-time favourite is David Copperfield - such an array of characters, poor David and his childhood troubles, the blossoming friendships between young boys before growing up to see the uncomfortable reality that is behind people's idealised notions.... I could go on but I have to stop myself.
Also love Macbeth in both play and film - there is so much that could be done with it.
Have to say I didn't think The Kite Runner would be there but it was a good read (well apart from a few misgivings).

No Dickens in the Top Twenty and only 2 in the Top Hundred. I couldn't work out how to see the Top Hundred, anyone worked it out? DG

Not seen list but can't believe no Dickens on the list. I love Our Mutual Friend - perhaps not his best loved but great book.
