Creative, interesting 18th birthday ideas under £300
My DD is 18 this summer and we want to give her something special. I'm already making her a special photo album and have done a recipe book for her last Christmas.......can anyone think of anything fun, adventurous and creative for a special birthday - or a summer........HELP!

For my parents' 40th wedding anniversary I managed to get hold of their Christmas card list and wrote to all their friends asking for some anecdotes. At the time everything was paper based so I included a stamped addressed envelope to encourage people to answer. I got loads of replies and put them together in a book and gave it to them - after seriously embarrassing them with some of the best ones at their anniversary party, of course! There were such lovely things written that it brought tears to my eyes!
Perhaps you could pass the word round her friends that you'd like an short comment on what's great and/or fun about your daughter and do something similar? In theory this should be easier now Facebook and other electronic communications are available, but you might need to use an intermediary among her friends!

There's a Helicopter experience ride on Groupon at the moment going really cheap...I know that my children would love that.
Or Ferrari/supercar driving/racing experiences.

A trip out with group of close friends goes down well .
Afternoon tea and theatre - much appreciated by sixth formers on small budgets or a pair of festival day tickets if music is more their thing.
I also bought my girls silver charm braclets for their 18th - 8 to 10 charms for hobbies, favourite places, pets etc - something nice to keep that they can wear. There are some good online sites with plenty to choose from.

Thank you all - some fab ideas. Charm bracelet really appeals and I'm thinking a ten day interail card....

I got an inter-railing ticket for my 21st birthday many moons ago... it was the best present ever. I travelled for a month round Europe with my boyfriend (now DH), seeing two stages of the Tour de France, being in Barcelona for the opening of the Olympics, visiting the casinos in Monaco, taking in the opera in Verona, chilling on Greek Islands (ferries from Brindisi were also included then) and visiting 9 European countries. We slept in youth hostels or on the overnight trains. It was fantastic.
A 10 day ticket for an 18th sounds perfect... I got a sewing machine for mine! Mind you, I still use it today so it was a great life-long present.
