Nottingham or Birmingham?

Post by zeinab »

Bit late I know but, my son is in 2 minds. Does he go with:

Better course ( Environmental Science) at Nottingham or

Better atmosphere/ surroundings and good vibes at Birmingham?

Urgent advice needed.

Merci :)

Difficult one!

I'd go for the better course because friends make the place not the 'vibes'.

He'll work harder on the better course.

Agree

University should be primarily about the education :) Fun should be added on top of the studying not the other way around!

Of course he will do better if he is happy but a lot of that is down to his attitude and the friends he makes. Places can feel very different once you are living there than from a visit.

He should go for the best course he is capable of otherwise he is wasting a huge amount of money.

Its hard enough to find employment afterwards so he needs the best qualifications he can get.

People I know who have studied in Nottingham say it's a great city - plenty going on without being too huge.

Thanks for your advice ladies. After weighing up all the pros & cons for each, he has decided on Nottingham.

Nearing the last hurdle & hopefully gaining those all important predicted grades. :?

I did an (incomplete) post-grad in Nottingham many moons ago – fabulous city, highly recommended, and I say that as a real southern softie, as those who know me can testify :D

My brother went to Nottingham many moons ago to study chemistry. He loved it and is still in contact with friends he made during his time there.
