What is the best route to STR from Stonehouse for School runs? I thought M5 will be the best?

Sadly there's no easy route between Stonehouse and STRS. If you use the M5 you can get off at 11a or 11, neither are very near and the traffic around both are very busy in the morning. You can go across Gloucester but again traffic is not good.. Think say satnav says about 25 minutes but at school times it is significantly more.. There actually isn't much difference between them.

17 mins from J13 to STRS, when the road works are finished. But that's OH, takes me a little longer...

Red, your husband must be flying up the motorway :-) That averaging over 50mph.. Not easy when you consider the a & b road traffic at the other end.. (I drive over 60k a year and rarely on a short trip do I get over 50 average.

Fortunately he and the boy are both morning people, so miss much of the traffic. Although not at the moment with the roadworks. However looking into the bus Dr Watson posted elsewhere now.

If you get off at junction 11, the A40 can have long queues, but they move fairly quickly. It takes about 4 -5 mins to get to Elmbridge roundabout. Traffic flow down Cheltenham road is usually pretty free, so add another 3 - 4 mins to the school gate.
