Latin at SHSB?

Latin at SHSB?
DS has decided he wants to be a pharmacist but thinks he needs Latin. Does anyone know if its taught at SHSB and from what age? He starts there in September.

I can't comment on SHSB latin teaching, but I know several Pharmacists, and none of them to my knowledge have studied Latin. It is so rarely taught in state schools that any university insisting on it would be restricting their intake hugely. Most universities would want a good selection of Gcses, A level Chemistry and then either maths and/or other sciences for Pharmacy.

When DS1 (now just finishing yr11) took it, Latin was offered "by invitation" as a weekly lunchtime session to yr8s identified as able linguists. As far as I can remember, there was no exam.

Don't imagine GCSE latin would be that much use - Roman slaves sitting under trees mostly 
On a serious note - latin is certainly not required for pharmacy - as described above, Chemistry and other sciences/maths are what will be needed.
Those who are good at science rather than MFL tend to have an ability for Latin/Greek so DC might enjoy it and it does server as a distinguishing factor as its not easy to get a good grade but it certainly won't be detrimental to any University application if it isn't offered.
