word problem: books and libraries

Pl HELP
stuck with this question

Library A has 67 books more than Library B, This morning Librarian moved 11 books from Library A to Library B
How many fewer books now in Library B as compared to Library A

answer is 45
Dont know how
Could you guide us about how to improve worded questions in Maths?

I find if pupils make up their own problems or re-word exisiting ones then they begin to see how problems work.

I am not impressed by this question as it assumes Library B has 0 books. The answer will be different depending on the number of books Library B has. Just wondering which book is it from?

Word problems can be mastered by practising over and over for variety of types. See Bond Assessment Book 1 & Book 2 for 11-12, 12-13 etc.

I may be having a bad evening maths-wise, but whatever numbers of books for Library A and Library B I start with I still end up with a difference of 45 books once the 11 have been moved, as in the answer...

Yes. The number each library has to start with does not matter so long as the library with more books has 67 or greater. 67 - 22 equals 45.

When you move one item from one pile to another you change the difference between the two piles by 2.

This is just a twist on the fairly standard "if there are x pupils in the school, and y more boys than girls, how many boys are there".
