Explanation needed please

Can anyone explain Question 78 of GL VR Pack 1 Test 2 please?
Number series is,
40 39 35 40 30 41 (?)
The answer is 25.
Any help much appreciated, thank you.

goes down by 5 every other number from 40 , hence 25
goes up by 1 every other numberfrom 39
next two numbers in series therefore 25, 42

With sequence numbers make sure you look at every other number too for a pattern, as is the case in the question you posted. What may look like a very complicated order of numbers can infact be a very simple order! Good luck!
