Parliamentary briefing paper on Grammar school statistics
I'd don't recall seeing a link posted to this May 2013 Parliamentary briefing paper on Grammar school statistics before:

Some interesting stats in there.

May 2013!! Thanks for that. Maybe they produced this because they are going to have to decide on the Sevenoaks Grammar annex sometime!

Aargh - can't type straight this morning. Trying to juggle this, and the new KS2 results, and last year's KS2 SATs papers being released all at once! It's definitely 2013!!!
Re: Parliamentary briefing paper on Grammar school statistic
Funny little paper. It ends quite abruptly. I was just starting to enjoy it and it ended.
It refers, like some other recent stats about grammars, to the low proportion of children on fsm in grammars. Do any of these studies look at whether there any link between the type of entrance exam and the proportion of children on fsm?

Could also be the catchment areas. We're based in the SE so Bexley and Kent area and the % of fsms in our local primarys is pretty low.

Do you know why the briefing paper was written, Okanagan? Is it can be to give background to a forthcoming Education Bill?
Seize the day ... before it seizes you.
Re: Parliamentary briefing paper on Grammar school statistic
Maybe they were going to do another graph showing what would happen to the stats if schools could have distant annexes abut that bit was chopped off, hence the sudden end.mystery wrote:May 2013!! But seriously, it would be interesting to know why this paper popped up. It has no real introduction or conclusion.

Maybe. In these studies that show that grammars across England have low fsm proportions, have they contrasted it with the background fsm levels in the area / primaries the grammar school draws from?Fingerscrossedmum wrote:Could also be the catchment areas. Has anyone studied fsm levels in ks2 results of children with level 5 and 6 versus the rest?
