Here we go again!

Post by Jolem2000 »

Well two years ago I was here avidly reading the posts as DS1 got ready to take the test and here I am again with DS2! I'm sure I'm more stressed this time round! DS1 sailed through his exam but I know it is not going to be anywhere near as easy with DS2 :?
Can anyone remind me what the pass marks are for each school, I think I must have wiped my memory of everything from two years ago!
I do remember this forum being a great source of support though and I know I will be obsessively reading this forum for the next 3-4 weeks!

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think it's:
107 crypt
210 Rich's
216 Marling
240 Pates.
Obviously these scores aren't directly compatible

The Crypt's qualifying score always was 107.5 (very frustrating for those who score 107 :!: "- but they have not revealed what their qualifying score is this year. Their advice this year is:-

""Will I know how my son performed in The Crypt Admissions Test?" Yes, we think that it is only fair that you know how well your son did in the Admissions Test. We aim to write to you as soon as we can process the results. We will inform you of the qualifying score and whether your child’s test score has met this score."

Believe all of stroudydad's other marks are correct from previous years tests.

Thanks Cazien. Sorry for the wrong information. Isn't it a bit wierd to not set a qualifying score? I know Pates do it differently but they do at least tell you what you need to achieve..

Marling is lower than STRS. And the scores don't correlate exactly either, as in, there is not a 30 mark difference between 210 for STRS/HSFG and 240 for Pates. It's more like 2 marks!

Agreed, but those are the stated qualifying scores

Agreed too.

I was only pointing out the lack of comparability which might not be obvious to people less sad than us, stroudydad. :D

Thanks all, I knew this would be the quickest way to find out! So have Crypt ever given rankings in the same way that Marling does? When I was at the open day this week the deputy head said that everyone who passed last year and put Crypt as their first choice got a place and they then offered a further 12 places on appeal. My first choice would be Marling where DS1 is but I seem to remember that Crypt had a slightly easier pass mark than Marling and I'm hoping it will be a back up for us.
I guess probably too much speculation at this stage and I'm sure it changes every year!

Does anyone know how far down the list they went to for SHS last year?

There is mention on another thread from 1st march 2013 of a ranking of 241 getting a place- from the compilation table the score must have been 220 ish
