GCSE physics - good textbook needed
Hi
DC is doing GCSE physics (single science) and struggling to find a decent textbook or resource to use. Any suggestions welcomed. Also happy to buy 2nd hand books if they are clogging up room!
Thanks

Do you know what exam board is your child doing?
CGP have a good range of revision guides you could look at online.

We found a lot of good stuff online - try the TES website as anyone can subscribe.
Also some school websites have excellent revision booklets.

Thanks - board is AQA. Not too keen on CGP books in general but will certainly give the online resources a try!

Agree with G55 TES website is great lots of info to download and it's FREE also take a look at mygcsescience it's a great website goes through all the spec for science and talks you through everything. My DS needs something visual and it really helped him. He's even thinking of physics A level!

I would go for the AQA text book in that case as it is written specifically for the exam. Hence language will as needed for the written exam. Also there is a how science works section to help prepare for those questions.
Also the ISA has a section too.

Do make sure to use AQA specific support of whatever kind as one might imagine that Physics is Physics but the boards have different expectations of how questions are answered, so the same question on exam papers by different boards could have totally different model answers!
( Scientist DCs say this is because it is all simplified so much at GCSE and different boards dumb down in different ways - then they had to learn the real science later on

Thanks for all of your useful suggestions. Amazon order made although one day delivery failed to turn up at the weekend
Certainly agree with KB's points as it does not seem to come down to a lack of understanding but needing to phrase things in a specific way for the marks .

Please excuse my curiosity , but doesn't the school provide the relevant textbook?
