Birkenhead High School Academy v Birkenhead School
Well it is five years since Birkenhead High School turned into an Academy. At the time I said how I thought that this would have a huge impact on the school and many people posted on this forum saying that I was wrong. Indeed some people said that results would improve as a result of moving from being a selective independent to a comp.
It is interesting to compare the recent August 2013 exam results with Birkenhead School, bearing in mind that five years ago their results were broadly comparable.
A Level (%A* BHS 7% BS 22%, %A*A BHS 40% BS 54% %A*-B BHS 73% BS 85%)
At GCSE it is even more marked
GCSE (%A* BHS 16% BS 41%, %A*A BHS 40% BS 74% %A*-B BHS 67% BS 94%)
I hate to say I told you so...but I did.
