Townley Grammar
My eldest DD who is in Y7 was involved in the Open Evening tonight talking to those going around.
When we went to collect her it was very busy. She said there were lots of girls and parents all enthusiastic.
Did any of you go tonight? What did you think?
I'm biased obviously.

Re: Townley Grammar
We were shown round by two very sensible and nice (sorry!) girls. Luckily we were quite early and managed to see a fair bit before it was too crowded. We did look round last year too, so it wasn't completely new. Drama, music, art and textiles all looked good. Unfortunately we were getting a bit tired by the time we went in for the Head's speech, so didn't take it all in. (Thought his speech was better last year but maybe we were earlier then?) I think this will probably be our no.2 choice just because we're looking for something a bit different.

It was crowded!
Last year when we were choosing it was Townley or Bexley Grammar. We opted for Townley as it was what my DD had always wanted. It threw her when she liked Bexley Grammar as well !

Re: Townley Grammar
I think everyone else was in the hall for the Head's speech when we arrived so the tour was not too busy initially.
Re: Townley Grammar
They tour guides were very nice but heads speech was a bit dry.
Re: Townley Grammar
We got there a bit late so couldn't fit in the headmaster's speech...the guides were very good and we were quite impressed by what we saw..also got the impression that the pastoral care is very good
Re: Townley Grammar
My experience was this the guides were very friendly and very good. They made sure they took us to all the various departments and my daughter was very impressed with what she was. She has always liked Townley from YR4. I hope she gets the school
Re: Townley Grammar
My Guide was nice but seemed reading from a script...
Was not able to attend the head teacher speech as my little one was noisy. DH thought it was dry and not very impressive...
Guess had high hopes...

Re: Townley Grammar
My husband took our daughter as I was working and she and I went to the summer open morning Townley organised.
They liked it, enjoyed their tour and thought their guide was good (although she wasn't a Y7 so can't have been your daughter Juancurt)
For various reasons we still prefer Bexley - it's a bit nearer and we like the languages specialism.
But Townley has a lot going for it!

Re: Townley Grammar
It was very crowded and we didn't see most of what we wanted to. The guides and girls who spoke were great; very confident and enthusiastic. Heads speech was ranked as 2 nd most boring by my dd (out of the 6 schools we have seen so far). I liked his bit about the fleas and elephants ( you had to be there). Lovely school and our second choice.
