Tiffin Boys - Previous Year Cuttoff?

Post by smart-boys-dad »

Does anybody have details of the previous years Cut-off scores, that have been offered a place in Tiffin Boys?

I understand that the score are standardised, but the increase in no of children taking these tests is likely to push the cuttoff higher. Please correct me if i am wrong?

It would be nice to know the cut-off for last 3 years

I had put this information on one of the recent threads. Also available on the Kingston Secondary schools Admission book.

Thanks a lot Tiffinboys. That link was very useful. As you might have reconginsed me from the Barnet forum, we are keen on QE as that is much closer to us and my DS has done extremely well in their tests.

2013 || Intial Score=231 || Final Score = 229
2012 || Intial Score=231 || Final Score = 229
2011 || Intial Score=228 || Final Score = 226
2010 || Intial Score=228 || Final Score = 225
2009 || Intial Score=226 || Final Score = 223

So it is safe to assume that a score of 230 or over should get a place in the final list and a score of 235 or over to be offered a place in the first list. This taking in account more children taking the TB test this year.

Hi, a very smart boy's dad. Seen the excellent scores at QE of your DS. Congrats and a very well done to your DS.

This year, the number of the registered candidates exceeded 2000. If that many actually took the test, the cut-off is likely to go up quite a bit. However, I expect that the number actually taking the test would be lower. If school gives the number of candidates taking the exam with the result, then it might be possible to make a good guess.

hello please can you help???

Our son scored 117 at langley and 235 for tiffins, his tutor advises that it may not be a good idea to put tiffins beacuse if he doesnt get in, he will lose places elsewhere, she recommended langley, i dont know why

can someone advise, we feel a score of 235 might be enough however this year they were more than 1800 applicants

please please can someone shed some light, this is driving us crazy, we have one week to submit our schools

our heart is telling us to put tiffins

Go with your true preferences. If you don't get your first choice, then you will be considered for your next preference and if eligible, you get that. And so on.

Looks like 235 would be good enough for Tiffin based on previous years preference pattern. If you want that as your first choice, put that first. You have nothing to loose.

I agree completely with tiffinboys. Your DS has a very good score at Tiffins and should put tiffn boys as first preference. It is possible that your ds may not be offered a place in the 'Initial offer', my gut feeling is that your DS has a very very chances of getting TB. Otherwise you will regret later.

I knew there was another reason why our DC went nowhere near a tutor :lol:

If someone claiming to be a specialist in getting DC into selective schools can't understand the equal preference system, I would give them a very wide berth...

:lol: :lol: . I simply say: "A child with lower ranking on the "Tiffin Boys list" school list will not get a place unless all the children with higher rank on "Tiffin Boys list" gets the place in TB, as along as they have listed TB in their CAF ".
