Appeal

Post by palomino »

Hi. Just got results for a late sitting for Wirral, 102 on first paper and 114 on second, total score 216 required score was 236 for both.

We only found out it was possible to sit the 11+ really late, after other children had sat it at school and we only had about 6 weeks to prepare, this mainly spent on his speed, so that he could finish the paper within the required time.

The last question on the second paper wasn't attempted at all as ran out of time, so may have been very close to passing that paper had it been attempted.

Changed schools a couple of years ago and didn't settle well into the new school.

He would be capable to a grammar school education, can we appeal?

It very much depends on the alternative academic evidence you have (positive school reports, High CAT scores and potential for high level 5 or level 6 in SATS) will be helpful. It willl also depend on the school you are looking at and its appeal history and if there are any reasons for not performing better on the day.
The further away you are from the pass mark the more difficult it will be to convince an appeal panel to uphold an appeal.
Do your research- look at the appeals thread and look for past appeals info in the " feedback from all areas sticky" there is a wealth of info there to help you decide what to do. The answers to lots of the questions you have will already be in there somewhere.
