Brain food and energy snacks for fussy eaters

Post by Middlesexmum »

I want to give dd some snacks to eat for a burst of energy during the exams for St Helens, Habs and NLCS. All are 3 papers so stamina is important.

She is a very fussy eater so won't entertain fruit or dried fruit. She does like Innocent smoothies though, would they be good? Chocolate?

Her marks vary a lot depending on mood and energy levels so I want to give her the best chance.

Is a bit of calpol a good idea to ward off any headaches?

I saw it in a TV that blueberry drinks, smoothies are really good before brain work, plus my son eats chocolate (Kit Kat, big chunk) before karate lessons, he says it helps.

How about a banana or some almonds and walnuts?

I know nuts are good but she doesn't eat them! Or fruit.

Is chocolate the only option?

Smoothies are good but will she need to go to the lavatory?

What about a flapjack, oats are great low gi giving her a steady stream of energy. Does she like hummus with mini breadsticks?

WHY would you want to drug your child unecessarily, and before such important exams???

I wouldn't give Calpol either, that will make him sleepy too.

A friend of mine has got all 4 of her sons into a super selective. She recommended that I give ds2 mentos/fruit pastilles to suck through the exam (for little bursts of sugar) and a mars bar for the break. We did, he got in, so there is something magical about chocolate!!

Which school was that? Are they allowed to take these little snacks in?
