Angles/ bearings/ protractors

Post by fatbananas »

Do DC need to take protractors into 11+ GS multiple choice exams to measure angles/ bearings etc? Or are questions phrased in such a way that you don't need them?

Not in Kent. But of course the exam system is changing next year so things could change I guess.

Thanks Twinkle!

I wonder if protractors are used in other multiple choice GS exams around the country? That might give an indication about a general trend?

In Warks CEM they just took in pencils/pens and rubbers in a see through pencil case.

I very much doubt any 11+ would need these - any angles would be calculated not measured.

Thanks Guest55. That was the kind of definitive answer I was looking for! :)

No protractors required (as previously said correctly by Guest55, angles are meant to be calculated not measured).

The only items that the children were allowed to carry (last year) are:
  • Black Pen
    Pencil x 2
    Rubber
    Ruler
    All in a transparent bag.
Note: No sharpeners.

I remember one council was fussy about not even allowing water bottle or food for the breaks.

Nothing like this is allowed. No rulers, protractors, compasses. Not even a pencil case unless it is clear plastic. DG
