hi
does anyone know which schools do not have a catchment area?
I guess Tiffins is one of the them with no catchment area but only the top 140 students being offered a place.
what other grammar schools dont have a catchment area?
Thanks!!

Hi, in Bexley there are 4 Grammar schools and if your child's 11 plus result is in the Top 180 there is no catchment area.

Tiffins girls does have a (very large) catchment
The 5 Sutton grammars have places either with no catchment, of with some out of catchment places.
Judd in Tonbridge and Skinners don't have a catchment I think.
Neither does Queen Elizabeth Barnet.

Colchester County High School (Girls) / Colchester Royal Grammar School (boys).
OOC places at Chelmsford County High School (girls) and KEGS (boys) (24 each), Southend County High School for Girls (min. 35), SHSB (min. 25) Westcliff High School for Girls or WHSB (min. 39 each) all allocated in order of score. You do have to muck in with the DDs and DSs of the thick locals like us, though . (CCHS and KEGS parents will no doubt wish me to add that that only applies to the Southend and Westcliff schools).
Birmingham grammar schools?

Correct - the 5 Birmingham KE Grammars and the 2 Sutton Coldfield grammars have no catchment.
Re: grammar schools with no catchment area
Grammars known as superselectives don't have catchment areas. This means that anyone can apply for a place from anywhere in the world. Literally, I think. Then the top however many are offered a place irrespective of where they live.
Here in Gloucestershire we have this system, and have one mixed grammar and 6 single gender schools which operate within it.

The Plymouth grammars don't have a catchment - Devonport Girls, Devonport Boys, Plymouth High School for Girls. I'm not sure they'd be classed as superselective though.

Re: grammar schools with no catchment area
How is a super selective distinguished from a grammar then? Just by virtue of it having no catchment?
