Bond and NFER

Post by geogwoman »

Are the Bond and NFER maths papers similar? I have brought practice Bond maths books as there is a large supply of them but not much that is NFER specific. Am I likely to be wasting my son's time using the Bond stuff?

I can't believe you haven't had a response to this as it is a popular topic on the forum. But in case you haven't: the general view seems to be that Bond maths papers are harder than Nfer (unlike their verbal reasoning). We have used Bond maths first to practice and to find areas of weakness - like you because there are more of them - and then went over to nfer just a few weeks before the test. That seems to have worked out OK for us as the Bond ones were good general teaching aids and the nfer then put the teaching to the test. I know some people on the forum feel that if your child is not great at maths then the Bond papers might be dispiritingly hard. though ...we didn't find that.
