Marling uniform??

Post by steppemum »

Hi, I feel a bit stupid because I have been on Marling's website and I can't find any sort of uniform information anywhere. I know that I have seen a list at some point, on-line, but I simply can't find it.

Does anyone know how I can find a list?
Does anyone know if there is a second hand uniform 'shop' and if it is actually worth getting anything second hand or will they get teased for not having new? Or is it all too battered to be worth selling second hand??

Just want to see how much it is all going to cost and where we have to buy it from (we are not in Stroud)

Thank you!

Batemans sports shop on stroud town centre is the only place you can buy it new I believe. For second hand it may be worth joining the local stroud selling Facebook group, I can't imagine he would get bullied if it's in a fairly good condition xx

This is the shop xx

Thanks, i'll check out the shop
does the PTA have a second hand uniform stall? (thought I saw that somewhere)

But my real problem is that I can't see a list anywhere? I know that I have seen it on-line, because there were pictures of acceptable and unacceptable shoes :D

just checked the shop link

 we are going to have to take out a mortgage to kit him out!

I know all secondaries are pretty much the same, it is just such a shock from tesco's black trousers and pack of 3 polo shirts to this.
Doesn't help that I think he will be in the bigger more expensive size for most things
£18 per pair of trousers

Hi Steppemum. The most expensive thing is the jacket, which you will have to buy from Batemans unless you can get hold of a second hand one at one of the events at Marling. They do have secondhand uniform stand at every school event , its worth checking out the school site for the info about the next event. Trousers we have bought from M&S - no problem at all, most kids get them from there, sports kit - your son's name needs to be embroidered on both shorts and a rugby shirt- mandatory piece of kit. Tie colour you will know later once he knows which house he will belong to. Hope this helps

A favourite cousin attended "the Marling", as it was always referred to by my mum and her family, many moons ago,so I wander over to the Gloucestershire section occasionally :) .

Googling "Marling school uniform" found this document - although I can't find anywhere on the website that it might have originated:

Thanks everyone - yes that list is just what I was looking for, I knew I had seen it somewhere. Maybe they removed it when they updated the website!

Good to hear that M&S trousers etc are acceptable - is that the same for school shirts? Any plain white long sleeved? ds is a bit hard to fit at times, especially trousers so it is good not to be stuck to one supplier.

I won't be buying just yet, I wanted to get some idea of budget and what we need (OK so I am just feeling a bit excited and wanted to do something)

Will keep my fingers crossed for you monkeyfeet, hope to meet you in September!

Yes, the same for long sleeve shirts- all M&S. Batemans trousers are more hardwearing- that would be my only comment, but with boys growing so fast you need to change size often :-). Batemans have discounts when you buy certain things together on ocassions.
