GCSE Options - French or Geography
Choice now between French and Geography...DS already choosing German, what to do. Any ideas/suggestions please?
Re: GCSE Options - French or Geography
What does he want to do?
Maybe move this to the GCSE area as there are already lots of threads like this down there?

Check the syllabuses for each and the assessment requirements; that might help sway him one way or the other.
Re: GCSE Options - French or Geography
Sorry, I'm totally biased towards MFL and have always called geography 'borography', so I may not be the best to give advice. What could be better than French with all of the wonderful food, sun, wine, skiing, etc. that France has to offer?
Re: GCSE Options - French or Geography
And I am totally biased towards the idea of a child deciding for itself. Talk to the teachers, read the specs, think about the future, bounce ideas around.
Re: GCSE Options - French or Geography
I let DD do that with geography vs Latin (top of the year in year 9). She chose geography and it is now one of her worst subjects, but it does give me a quiet bit of satisfaction that I told her so. Not something I mention aloud, well not often!
Re: GCSE Options - French or Geography
Has he already picked a humanity? (history or RS) if not then pick geography.
If so, then if he has no strong feelings either way and you have no strong feelings either way, then there's always the flip a coin option?
(Though I'm with Moved on this, I hated geography.)

Re: GCSE Options - French or Geography
Well I am a language lover as you know, but my son loves Geography. And he hated French.
I think they should do them all till 16 anyway, but I am not Education Secretary.
