Tiffin girls stage 1 cut off

Post by whythis11plus »

Hello all,
My DD is taking the tiffins exam this year. We live in the designated area so is that any advantage while deciding the stage 1 test cut off marks for the people who live with in the designated area?

for example if 1400 girls take stage 1 and out of 1400, 1000 are from within the designated are then the cut off marks for these 1000 is different to that of remaining 400?/

Thanks for the help.

Regards

It is same for all the candidates. OOC can sit for stage 2 tests as well, but very unlikely to get place in TGS as there are likely to be sufficient number of applicants from IC who were successful in stage 1 tests. There is no minimum score requirement for combined tests.

Thank you tiffinboys.
So any idea how many were qualified for stage 2 in last year test?

Once again thanks a lot for your reply.

No official confirmation, but in 2012 TGS had 450 mentioned in the admission arrangements. I believe about the same number qualified for stage 2 in 2013. Perhaps Snowdaddy can give more accurate figures.

Firstly the cut-off does not take into account location at all. They typically offer around the top 500 of candidates from Round 1 to sit Round 2. If you are not in the designated area then you do not realistically have a chance of an offer which is why, amongst other reasons, less than 500 actually attend to sit Stage 2... this is nearer the 450 mark.
However, these numbers are not really very significant apart from the fact that Stage is 1 is obviously Pass or Fail; realistically you need to be in the high scorers of Stage 1 since the Stage 1 score is carried forwards to the final combined result and it is difficult to gain a place with a Stage 1 score just over the cut-off.
