What books to use?

Post by medwaymum »

Hello; can anybody please tell me which are the best books to practice NVR with? Our examining board in Kent is NFER.

Many thanks. :)

Bond are BEST

Hi medway mum
I have used the Bond nvr books for both my children and have found them very similar to nfer.
Available from most online stores and split into age categories.

Rather than do a whole paper in 1 sitting I get them to do 10mins each day this seems to work well.

Hope this helps and see you in January!
PS did you do the medway as well?

thanks reddebs, and yes my d did do the medway - in fact i sent you a pm a few days ago, still sitting in my outbox - can you open it?

my d goes to kent school so will sit the kent test in her usual school which may well be slightly easier than the saturday medway one! I'm hoping anyway!

better get cracking on the nvr now as we havent really covered it too much so far...

I've been using the Bond how to do nvr and also teh 10 minute tests. They are both good.

Suggestions also playing Tetris as that helps with different orientations of shapes

Thanks yoyo for the tip about tetrus; great idea. The NVR looks like it would give you a headache if you do for more than 10 mins! Glad its not me doing it - just hope she doesn't start asking me to explain the ones she gets wrong - or that I might be able to answer. Some look ok but some I just don't know where to start!

Please tell me that practise is the key! :?

Hello

Is it safe to say that for VR Bonds Assessment papers are not ideal - as they cover far more question types than NFER, but fur NVR Bonds are ideal?

Would love some information about which books to use for NVR. Using AE books and Bonds at the mo.

Thanks guys, I am so grateful to have found this site, you are all doing such a great service to the community.

Bond NVR

I have been trying to find suitable material for my son who takes 11+ in Lincs... Sept. Had found Bond but was advised that some questions do not appear in NFER, so to pick and choose. For example the cube/net questions have not been on the papers. I'm still not really sure what we will do... Have found Bond 'How to do NV' very helpful.
