Wilmington for Girls Waiting List / Second Choice

Post by vaani2003 »

Hi
I have put my DD in the waiting list of Wilmington for girls. We are deemed selected but missed by 0.7 miles in the first round.

I was wondering if there is anybody out there who currently got into this school but was there second choice ?

Also parents who have put there DD for the waiting list please raise there hand

cheers

I had a look on their website:

Y7 Admissions Policy
SEPTEMBER 2014 ENTRY

Entry is through the Kent age 11 assessment procedure. Where applications for admission of eligible girls exceeds 120 the following criteria will be applied in the order in which they are set out, to decide which girls who satisfied the selection requirements should be offered places:

1.Girls who are in Local Authority Care...

2.Girls who have a sibling in the school at the time of entry....

3.Girls who have a sibling attending Wilmington Grammar School for Boys...

4.From the remainder of eligible girls those who have shown, through the tests, an exceptional performance which places them in the top 12 selective places in Mathematics;

5.Girls who are eligible living nearest to the school... .

Does the Maths Score criterion mean, in the top 12 for Maths of the ones who haven't already been selected as in care / sib / cross-sib, or top 12 applicants overall? If the latter, presumably there are fewer than 12 admitted under this criterion most of the time? Even fewer if they mean, in the top 12 of everyone taking the Kent test? Or am I being really dense here?
