School uniforms beyond 16th year

Post by vasu »

My ds is around 5.10ft and now the age 16 trousers and shirt are short for him. Most of the high street stores do ages till 16. Can anyone suggest stores or sites that do ages 17+. He is 13years old and still growing and still has 4 years of school uniforms. Need to find a store which would accommodate him even when he crosses 6ft.

the school uniform shop in our patch supplied uniform for really rather tall or well built lads - if they wear white shirts then the supermarkets or M&S would have them

I would second school uniform shops - my son is 6'2" and the local uniform shop stocked trousers to fit. It also depends on what you need - he could wear any grey trousers, so adult trousers would be fine, but I'm not sure what happens at the local comp where they have to wear a certain shade of rather pale grey!

I am really struggling with school trousers too. My nearly 12 year old is 6ft, has a 33 inch leg and a 28 inch waist. I can't find any school trousers to fit him. The M&S sixth form ones are to short! The age 16 ones he has had in year 7 are too short yet still huge for him on the waist.

Going to a uniform shop did not occur to me!!!! Duh!! Ds is at QE boys and the school is stickler for the right shade of grey  for trousers and blue for the shirt!!

Hera...6ft...wow...impressive!

If the school is so picky about the exact shade of the trousers then I would possibly also ask there what the solution is  However, although your DS may be tall for his age, his height is not excessive for male pupils generally, so the uniform suppliers should be able to help.

I was going to suggest the M and S extra long school trousers, but the colour may not have been correct.

It really isn't clever or a choice to be tall (sorry for grumpiness - pet hate!). Hope you find some trousers to fit, OP (will go back to my glass of wine now :))

Scary mum, if you mean about tall being impressive I'm right with you, just didn't step into the grumpy zone, but is the tininess of my boys disappointing then? Not to us, we love all things small around here. Sadly the world is full of positive adjectives for they tall and piss taking adjectives for the small! Not that we bring the boys up to feel resentful, they love being small and we are very positive about it and all shapes and sizes, but in private this is a bug bear of ours, lol!

It would be nice if this could remain a supportive post about the difficulties of finding clothes for children who are not an average size. Great suggestion about trying the specialist uniform shops.
