schools in WD3

Post by Vedavyasa »

We currently live in ruislip, where there are no good secondary schools. so we are thinking to move to WD3 postcode with in 3 months to come, as my son is in year 5 now. so that we have better chance for st clement danes school, watford grammar school and rickmansworth school.

does anybody know that it is guaranteed to get a seat in st clement danes school, if we move to wd3 postcode?

how long before should we be moving there?

Thanks

Are you really sure there are no good schools in the area. Ruislip high seems to be good. I thought it had an outstanding OFSTED. Have you also looked around schools in the area as well?

I thought St Clement Danes had no catchment area, or has that changed?

WD3 postcode doesn't mean your child will get into SCD. Living less than 2km from the school does.

1.2km should be safe for Rickmansworth, but not guaranteed.
0.2km for Watford Boys and I think they measure it from the front door.

What's wrong with Bishop Ramsey?

If you aren't a practicing church goer ( CoE or Catholic) , then you can forget Bishop Ramsey. Nothing wrong with Haydon either.

You can live anywhere in WD3 if your DS is in the top 20 children based on 11 plus test score (assuming distance is not needed as a tie breaker).

You can live anywhere in WD3 if your DS is in the top 20 children based on music test score (assuming distance is not needed as a tie breaker).

If you are looking to gain a distance place only it will be dependent on how many places are available to allocate once all higher priority allocations (cared for, SEN, siblings, children of staff, academic places, music places) have been made and how many other children live closer to the school.

Have you started preparing your DC for the 11 plus test as it will be the only route into the Boys Grammar as siblings and cross siblings take the majority of spaces. To get a distance place for this school you will need to be within 200 metres of the school which would mean that you would not quality if you are in WD3.
