Reading Boys: Number of children in 2014 test
It is not possible to guess how many in slough would have ticked the check box to include their score in Reading result but am curious to know if you got an idea of the number of children that physically took the test at Reading boys yesterday?
We were in the morning session and I guess there were 350-400 children. DS also thought they used 20 rooms with average of 20 children in each room.
A friend guessed another 200 were in the afternoon session.

We asked the school this very question last Thursday.
Around 700 boys sat the test at Reading. Another ~600 sat the test in the Slough consortium and have asked their scores to be included in the standardisation.
Not sure how this compares against previous years. I'm sure others will enlighten us.

Thanks for the info. Let's see what information apart from the standardized score we get on the result next month. I wonder if it would be possible this year to find approx rank amongst eligible children or likelihood of securing the place based on that information.

What's more important is how many of those who 'ticked' the box are in catchment.

I would guess no more than 50-100.

Friends tell us that it was ~650 children who took the last year and ~550 the year before. I suppose last child to get admission this year would have higher score compared to previous years assuming they use same standardisation mechanism this year too.kara123 wrote:We asked the school this very question last Thursday.

In previous years Reading have used their own form of standardisation, so I'm not sure.
But yes the higher the numbers applying the higher the score required.
