Swim, Bike, Run by The Brownlee Brothers (The Triathletes) if he likes sport.

Faster than lightning, usain bolt, was a hit with son number one, he was years year 8 when he read it, but he is not a big reader. Easy to read and quite inspiring and funny according to him.
I just looked it up in the big cyberspace book shop, it has pretty much all 5 star reviews from other lads too, so perhaps eldest was right?

Brilliant - thanks!

Barack Obama's Dreams From my Father - it's on my DS' list - it's very well written and an enjoyable read.

Just thought of another one
Noel Streatfeild's A Vicarage Family - ( shows my age!) I enjoyed it, may be more suited to girls than boys.

just bought that today from Oxfam!
Why do posh people hang onto their baby nicknames or school names so much longer than us commoners? First thing I ds3 read was his real name is Edward, presumably called ted, so named "bear" by his sister when he was a week old.
