Order of learning times tables
Hello,
I seem to remember that there is an advised order of learning times tables. I think it starts 10, 2 and then 5, but what comes after that and in which order?
Thank you!

Hi, I would start with 2, 10 then 5
Then do the 3 , then 4 times tables. Once they are secure with these move on to the others. The orders a very similar in all the maths workbooks.

You could refer to the new Primary NC?

Re: Order of learning times tables
Thank you both. I seem to have read somewhere there was a specific order for ease of learning. The new primary nc is interesting but I think my year 2 child is still being taught to the old curriculum. I wonder if he will move to the new curriculum in year3 or if he is the last year to do the old curriculum all the way through....
Anyway, ds2 kbnows the 2, 5 and 10 and i was told by his teacher at our termly meeting yesterday that I should move him on, but I didn't think to ask what came next.
Oo cross posted with Sally Anne - thanks for that - really helpful. My life seems to be suspended until results next week. Hence concentrating on child 2!

Your child will move to the new NC next year.
Many schools are blending old with new this year so Year 2 are ready for the new Year 3.
(Wow S-A you must be bored )

Re: Order of learning times tables
For practice, not necessarily teaching, I like hearing the twos, fours and eights as a group because of the overlap, the threes and nines, the sixes and twelves, the fives and tens and then the stragglers (of which elevens are easier than sevens...).

Thank you, Stroller. That approach also seems useful.
