Saint Olave Result 2014 - "possible" category

Post by luvingdad »

Hi,
We received saint olave results and letter says that your son will "possibly" be offered a place.
Can someone please let know if it means a fairly good chance of getting an offer ? Also, do I have a correct understanding that there is another category "most possible" where chances are more to get an offer ?

It would help if someone would share that in last few years how many boys got "possible" category letter and how many of them got the final offer

Thanks in advance.

This information may help you

http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... 2&start=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This was put by another parent in this link.

Well done to your DS!

Don't know the exact number who sat for the test, but I didn't think you need to worry about this.

Per the admission policy

distance/county/borough is not a factor - the score/rank is. (Newstead Woods has the 9 mile rule, St Olaves doesn't)

St O have used 3 wordings in the result letters: "Likely", "Possibly" & "Unlikely". As your DS has a "likely" letter I believe he is pretty much assured of a place.

The OP's son had the mid category letter - possibly, not likely. Therefore whether he gets a place depends on how many of the likely category a) list the school on the CAF and b) accept the offer from the school...and then how high up the possibly category he is, how many others in that category are higher and list the school and so on.

So I wouldn't say that luvingdad's son is "pretty much assured of a place" but it is worth putting it first on your CAF form if that is your preferred school.

If it was me and I really wanted St O, I would put it as my first choice. I know a good few boys who have got in from within the "possibly" category. Bon chance!
