Appeal for Judd???

Post by Mum From Kent »

We are in the unfortunate position of knowing that an appeal will be the only way in to Judd (our number 1 choice!) as our ds score was at the lower end of the spectrum. Does anyone have an indication of achieved levels at end of year 5 and anticipated levels for end of year 6 required in the past for a successful appeal? There were extenuating circumstances which may have led to underperformance on the day but at this stage I am keen to get a handle on the sort of levels they are looking for before we decide the position on the SCAF. Thanks in advance!

Might be worth taking a look at the appeals section on the forum. If he has a low score he may well struggle at judd.

We had a successful appeal for Judd last year.

End of Year 5 DS's NC levels were Writing 5b (finished with a 5A SAT but had been County Moderated at at least a level 6c if not 6b during Year 6) Reading 5c (finished with a SAT level 5A and a reading age of 15 years) and maths 5c (finished with a Level 6 SAT). He worked really hard to improve his maths over the year as that was the only paper he did not score full marks on. He was four marks off the cut off at reallocation. We did not have his SATs results before we had the appeal but we were able to say that he was taking Level 6 SATS though were able to report back from the County Moderator on his english. We had outstanding support from the school, who stated that his maths result was unexpected & loads of evidence. Last year, I believe there were 5 successful appeals out of about a possible 17(?). There were no successful appeals the year before.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

BTW he loves it at Judd - it was the right school choice for him and has settled in well.
