12+ Question

Post by BlueBerry22 »

MY DS has expressed an interest in sitting the 12+ so I will register him and submit the EP Report that says he can be considered for extra time in exams due to reason X,Y and Z.

The only way to get extra time for SATS was to demonstrate that the child needs extra time to complete classwork and class assessments – because the diagnosis was so late (April 2014) – we could not fulfil that criteria & thus no extra time was granted. He still achieved high L5s.

Now he is in a Bucks US – he has yet to be assessed for any support – this is due to happen in Jan/Feb as the school has so many under achieving SEN pupils that take priority.

My question is – will the GS make its own decision on Extra Time allowances or will it seek an opinion from the US & ask them how he is being supported?

I don’t know whether to tell the GS that he doesn’t get extra time at US as he hasn’t been assessed yet or whether to keep quiet & hope they don’t communicate with US.

Yet again I feel caught between a rock and a hard place.

If anyone has any insight about how best to approach this I would be grateful.

Thanks

Probably a common late transfer form, girls are in the sixth form.

I have driven past the school every working day for the past 14 years at drop off & pick up time & had no idea that girls were in the 6th form ( unless you are pulling my leg!)!!

Don't think it is a common transfer form as it asks for ks2 SATs to be enclosed!

Aren't they just girls from WHS who are doing A levels that WHS have a teaching and resource sharing agreement with JHGS rather than actually being on JHGS school role?

Yes, I think you are right. I asked son and he said there were some there every day and it was really annoying. Although the same son thinks it's "just plain weird" not to have girls in school. (Bit mixed up yet bless him) Makes perfect sense to share teaching and resources though doesn't it. There are always some girls walking about in the school when I have collected him, or visited for some reason, so it must be a successful scheme.

I have heard of extra time being granted for 12+ but it is much less than 25% which is given for KS2 tests, GCSE and A level.
