Is this your first choice school?

Post by J50 »

"Is this your first choice school?"

Well that's a tricky question to answer from the registration form isn't it? I guess the choice is:

1. Yes
2. No
3. Not sure
4. Actually it's a back up option just in case we don't get one of the first 2 choices

So, if in all truthfulness your answer should be 4... what answer do you give?

I see it as effectively asking the question "Do you wish your application to be given equal consideration with others we receive? Yes/No" and would therefore reply "yes" with a clear conscience.

I would definitely say yes.

Private schools can pick and choose who they make offers to. Why give them a reason not to make you an offer?

My son was asked this in an interview and answered 'I am also applying to XYZ and I like different things about each school.' He was offered the place. :D

DS was asked this in an interview (with us present), replied "no, I'm hoping to go to St Elsewhere" and was offered a scholarship. It may depend on how much they want you.

We had a similar experience to Angelcake, with similar results. The main difference being that I was asked the question rather than DC. I'm a firm believer in honesty being the best policy!
