Coordinates are

(2,2)
(8,4)
(3,-1)

work out 4th coordinate

(9,1)

What is the midpoint of this rectangle - give co-ordinates

Find the middle of each side. Reiterate G55 - always draw.

If you have a diagonal going from (2,2) to (9,1) could you not just find the midpoint of that?

Yes, but a solid concrete understanding helps most children. The diagonal is a more abstract stage of teaching.
