Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
What answer did you get?
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
oh my daughter got 43metres.
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
Reverse the journey.
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13
Add 1 and 13
3 and 11, etc
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13
Add 1 and 13
3 and 11, etc
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
Can you write down what she did?
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
i wish i could draw how she did on the diagram itself but i'll write the numbers she added
13,11,9,7,5,3,1
THANKS
13,11,9,7,5,3,1
THANKS
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
Now she needs to add them correctly ...
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
arrh ok thanks . so answer is 49m
dont know why she only added 11,9,13,7 and 3 hence 43 but her diagram shows all numbers
13,11,9,7,5,3,1
will ask her why when she gets back from school.
thanks ever so much

Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
No problem - did she tackle it by 'undoing' the journey?
Re: Emmanuel School Sample Maths Paper for 11+
I suggest that there is actually no need to add up her numbers. Her numbers are an arithmetic progression. The rule for arriving at the sum of an arithmetic progression is to multiply the middle value by the number of terms. The middle value of her numbers is 7 and the number of terms in her numbers is also 7. The sum of the progression is therefore 7 x 7 = 49.Mittleme wrote:i wish i could draw how she did on the diagram itself but i'll write the numbers she added: 13,11,9,7,5,3,1
