Merchant taylors - if get interviewed odds are good right?

MTS say over 350 sat exam and 215 are interviewed.. Then 180 are offered places

Yes the odds are very good and your DS is likely to be offered a place.

In the interview they just seem to make sure your DS is someone that will fit in with the school; they are not trying to catch him out with difficult questions.

We did not prepare our DS for the interview, other than to tell him to speak clearly and confidently.

Those are fantastic ratios, much higher than Habs, City and Westminster. But of course they have far less sitting.

I would do some prep though as they still get rid of 35 and all those who have been offered interview will have done well in the exam. Best to do what you can to keep out of the 35!

I may not be up to date but I think 100 of these places are for 13+ at Common Entrance
I think the 11+ intake is 60 to 80

My DS joined MTS in 2012, for that year I beleive there were 120 offers with an expectation of 60 boys accepting. Unusually, around 80 boys accepted so they had a larger intake that year. Lots more £££ for MTS!

Top school, cannot fault it (apart from above inflation fee increases - but I guess that is true for all the indies). I think fee increases should be linked to the consumer price index

Or to petrol prices - no maybe not as petrol prices are going down at the moment but usually they are going up...

I think it's great value. Given the range of things that our DS's get to do.
