Excellent english, Clever comprehension 1&2 - by victoria olubi

Have you used these books? How did you find them? Author seems to be 11+ and 13+ tutor in West London area.

I have purchased them and looked at the texts. They are too straightforward for final prep for the North London super selectives market but would be fine as starter texts. DG

Thanks DG.
The reviews on amazon were good so I thought it may be more challenging than other materials in the market.

It is possible that the parents of her students have written reviews. They are certainly worth using but not as final preparation for North London super selectives. I would recommend Habs, St Pauls, Manchester Grammar and Consortium past papers. DG

Thanks DG. Yes, the consortium papers are good, however, they don't have answers.

Yes, because there is not one right answer, there are lots. In order to have one right answer you have to select far less challenging texts and deal with them on a basic level which is the problem with this set. DG

Not sure how the CSSE English paper compares with those for the London schools, but they manage to have mainly single-answer questions and are not generally thought of as particularly easy.

The 2008 entry paper is the one which DS1 took, scoring 36/50. DS2 scored 39/50 on the 2014 entry paper (not available for free on the website). The format of the exam changed for 2015 entry but the comprehension is similar.
