T&W allocations

Post by Mrs H »

It looks like the T&W allocation email has been put back to 2nd March ~ letter still due to go out tomorrow (27th February).

I spoke to Shropshire Council on Wednesday. I was told that we would receive emails by midnight on the 2nd (could be a long day) but they were vague on when allocations would be available to view online. The lady said it could be Sunday.

Waiting for scores was a hard wait, this is even harder. We should be safe but you never know!

I am disappointed with the TWC as specifically applied on-line in order to receive the email early. I am sure that many others did, too. It was very misleading to publish one date and change it later :x

To be fair, they should be sticking to the NATIONAL allocation day, like all other councils - I suspect someone has complained that they were trying to issue early (which they shouldn't have done).

Good morning all,

I didn't realise they had put the date back, not good at waiting :D.

Kenyancowgirl - I'm not sure I understand the harm in releasing them as early as they able; it will be a great relief to some (esp those who haven't sat the Birmingham exams) and give others longer before the deadline to make a decision? Who would complain and what benefit is it to the LA?

Good luck to all, hope the results go your way.

Possibly their own legal department had something to do with it? National Offer Day is set as the 1st of March or the first working day thereafter if it falls at a weekend. Fair enough to offer an email / facility to find out by logging on at 00.01 on the specified day (as an incentive to apply online and save the LA money if nothing else), but I can't see how they could really justify releasing the allocation two or three days in advance?

At least your LA, like ours, allows you to find out at midnight - some areas won't be allowed to find out electronically until 'close of business' on Monday, apparently

To clarify the things, received the following email from the Telford council today:

"Clarification of Secondary Allocation Letters / Online Applications

We wish to notify you of an error in our information booklets and clarify the situation.

We have been made aware that the date specified for online applicants to receive an email detailing the outcome of their applications is incorrect on page 8 of the Information Booklet and page 10 of the mini guide; however, it is correct on page 17 of the Information Booklet and on our webpage.

To be clear, allocation letters will be posted out today (27 February 2015) via 2nd class post to all on time applicants; in addition, those parents who have applied online will receive an email detailing the outcome on Monday 2 March 2015.

The national offer day as outlined in the School Admissions Code is 1st March 2015, this day falls on a weekend and is not a working day, we are unfortunately not able to disclose the outcome of applications before this date.

We apologise for this oversight and for any inconvenience this may cause.

Telford & Wrekin School Admissions Team"

Please note that it appears that if you applies on-line, you will still receive a letter by post, which we did today.
Good luck!
