No GL assessment VR/NVR. Not sure if the first round is CEM now (HBS style)?

Gossip is that schools would themselves prepare test papers and likely to be more like Sutton's SET.

No information from schools yet.

So glad to know that Tiffin Girls has finalised their exam format. Does it mean we can definitely forget about Vr & Nvr ?

Yes.

But it is possible that VR type questions crop up in the literacy or numeracy multiple choice questions in Stage 1.

Thank you Tiffinboys.

I am not very familiar with the new system used by Tiffin Girls. Although have searched around on this website, but most books suggested here are still pretty much linked to the old tests format. A bit confused now! We haven't started any proper preparations yet. So in order to save the precious time, and get on the right track quickly, could anyone kindly shed the light on the effective preparation resources to assist us from now onward, e.g. English (including vocabulary) Maths & Creative Writing? Thank you in advance.

Basically, concentrate on covering English and Maths Key stage 2 syllabus. Some of it wil not be covered in the primary school by the time of the entrance tests.

When you have covered the KS2 course, try to do level 7 English and Maths. Tiffin test in English is particularly hard in both comprehension and writing. We would use Athey, Bond and GL practice papers for multiple choice stage 1 test.

To add to the above post.

We will also use past test papers of independent schools like St Paul's Girls, Manchester Grammar, City of London, Habs, Merchant Taylor, North London consortium etc. downloadable from their website.

For Comprehension, we are using Bond Comprehension books. Also practice writing all genres. You may like to use AE Creative Writing series and also Writing books for Independent schools' Common Entrance Exams.

For mental maths and word problems, You may like to use Schofield and Sims books to Book 6.

I am sure Ladymuck, DG and others could add more useful tips.

In Stage2 English Test for TGS, how much time do you get and what are the total marks for reading and writing?
