" Punishment is better than reward at changing behaviour..."

"Punishment is better than reward at changing behaviour, psychologists claims..."

Another topic to keep you all busy! :D

What do you all think?!

" Dr Jan Kubanek, a neurobiologist at Washington University's school of medicine who led the study, said: 'Regarding teaching strategies, our study suggests that negative feedback may be more effective than positive feedback at modifying behaviour.

PSYCHOPATHS DON'T UNDERSTAND PUNISHMENT
Violent psychopathic criminals may be unable to learn from punishment due to abnormalities in key parts of their brain.

Brain scans of violent offenders has shown that those with psychopathic tendencies react differently when confronted with punishment or a negative reaction to their behaviour.

This could be why psychopaths do not benefit from rehabilitation programs while other violent criminals often do.

Around one in five violent offenders are thought to be a psychopath and they are known to have higher rates of reoffending.

The researchers behind the latest study hope that their findings could help to develop new interventions in childhood that could reduce the risk of violence and reoffending.

They found that the psychopaths had reduced levels of grey matter and abnormal white matter in areas of the brain that are involved in learning from rewards and punishment.

'Our study showed that such feedback does not have to be harsh, since it appears that we tend to react in the same manner to any amount of negative feedback.

'From an evolutionary perspective, people tend to avoid punishments or dangerous situations. Rewards, on the other hand, have less of a life-threatening impact.'
