Assisting my DD in her maths revision for school exams - and we have come to blows on this one :

3x4-2(5-2)=

Who can tell me the correct answer - I think its 6, she thinks its 30. Which one is right!!

6 is correct.

Using bodmas, you do the brackets first, so 5-2=3
Then do the the multiplications so 3x4 is 12 and 2x3 is 6
Then the subtraction 12-6 to give 6
