Can anyone recommend a good local tutor please?

Post by Tricky123 »

I'm looking for a good local tutor in the Churchdown area preferably.

Can anyone offer any good recommendations please?

We try to keep the forum as safe as possible - we don't allow tutors to be openly recommended, because it attracts posts with fake recommendations ('dodgy' advertising solely designed to solicit business on the internet).
It is also not unknown for unscrupulous competitors to 'plant' negative posts, seeking to denigrate the opposition!

Genuine recommendations from forum members by PM only (private message) are permitted - but be aware of the possibility that someone who appears to be a 'helpful parent' offering advice may not be all they seem! There could be an ulterior motive.

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with great caution.
However, we have many long standing members - check carefully the date of joining and number of posts) - who make a very valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a private recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering.

Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'.
It's easy to report a possible problem - just click on the red exclamation mark that appears with every post and PM: Image

I would not recommend having a tutor and tbh, they are very expensive (most charge £25+ per hour and want you minimum of one hour per week for minimum of a year). They usually charge only for their time - you have to buy and provide all the resources. They also charge £50-£125 to sit a mock test, which the "strongly advise" you to do a couple of, so you could be paying well over £2000.00. The new test is described as "tutor proof" unlike the old GL one.

There are plenty of readily available books to DIY (the ones the tutors use!) as they are very comprehensive and cover a wide variety of subjects which appear in the test. Concentrate on learning vocabulary, by reading a decent standard of book, synonyms, antonyms, compound words, variety of Maths and Non-VR. Their are a number of websites to play games on which are also useful.

Good Luck!
