Verbal (Letts) Sequence Question

Post by Aneesa101x »

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help with this sequence?

4, 3, 7, 5, 9, __

Choose out of:

14
18
16
20
10

Thanks!

The answer is 10 but I'm unsure how they got this.

Hi,

Showed to my DD... she said

4 , 3 , 7 , 5 , 9, ______

do -1, +4 , -2, +4 , -3 , +4

4 - 1 = 3
3+ 4= 7
7 - 2 = 5
5 +4 = 9
9 - 3 = 6
6 + 4 = 10
10 is the only one which comes in the sequence first....

She may be wrong.... u can wait for others to comment

Thanks

Thank you! Makes sense now! :D
Not sure why they haven't added in 6 to the sequence though possibly a typo in the paper.

Hi, can I check the actual question? Does it say which one of these numbers appears next in the sequence(in which case it makes sense) OR what number appears next(in which case very misleading!!!). Not sure they would be that mean in the actual test??!

'What number continues the pattern in each series?'

My DS did the previous three sequence questions without any problems and the answers were the ones which were next in the series; however we both couldn't seem to work this one out! :?

4,3 = 1 difference
3,7 = 4 difference
7,5 = 2 difference
5,9 = 4 difference.
Ignoring plus and minus the inbetween sequence would be 1,4,2,4,1,4,2,4.
The only answer one different to 9 is 10.
What do you think???
(Logically can't go 1,4,2,4,3,4 as then would be 6 or 12 and neither an option)
