Bond 10-11+ Stretch Practice
Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster.
My son has been working his way through various Bond resources, in preparation for the Medway Test.
Am pretty sure we've found an error in the above book, Mixed Test 3, Question 50. Have tried looking for confirmation via Bond site and got nowhere, can anyone confirm the presence of an error?

Sorry, don't have that book but it is not unheard of for there to be errors in the books - have come across a few myself in the past!
Re: Bond 10-11+ Stretch Practice
I've found a lot of errors in several CEM books - usually because they've rushed to get them published quickly as alot of schools are going down the cem route - a great money-spinner for them.

If you could post the question we might be able to comment.

Yep, am finding more and more as time goes by. Bond Maths Pack 2, Test 4 also has a mistake - asks for fractions to be ordered in one order but answers only give valid answer the other way. He found the error. It's so frustrating for my son, and has the potential to undermine his hard work.

If you count the number of shapes with curved sides on the graphs
spheres = 205
cones = 35
cylinders = 85
total = 325
spheres = 205
cones = 35
cylinders = 85
total = 325

That's the one. The question asks for the total number of shapes with a curved edge. The answer given is 325, but it is incorrect, spheres do not have edges, let alone curved ones. If the question had asked about curved faces I would have accepted it as correct.leanmeamum wrote:If you count the number of shapes with curved sides on the graphs

Order these fractions, largest first:
2/3 7/6 1/2 5/6 6/3
Answer is given as:
D 6/3 7/6 5/6 2/3 1/2
However, the answers you can select from are:
A 1/2 2/3 6/3 7/6 5/6
B 2/3 1/2 5/6 6/3 7/6
C 1/2 2/3 5/6 6/3 7/6
D 1/2 2/3 5/6 7/6 6/3
E 1/2 5/6 2/3 7/6 6/3
My son had written on the paper that it wasn't possible, wrote the correct order down and even wrote 'D - opposite'. I initially marked him as being incorrect, based on the answer pack, it was only when he ranted at me that I checked further. It's frustrating, he doesn't need mistakes like that.
I did look on the Bond website but couldn't get their Contact Us button to work. It would be nice if they did have an 'ooops!, sorry' section on their site.
