My understanding is that they provide a "Pass" for those who are successful to 2nd stage and disclose the mark if your child doesn't pass. I could be wrong though.

For SET you are only told pass or fail.
You will get an email to that effect. Some school tell you the mark if you fail, for instance Wilson will not disclose marks in either case.

As a rule of thumb , around top 40% will pass.

Writing is not taught quickly. We also used independent schools past papers and also independent schools practice books for common entrance exams.

Will Nonsuch and Wallington girls send invitations (email or post ?) separately to all those girls who passed in SET ?
Or
Do they select girls based on rank order and send invites for second stage to (say) top XX% ?
(I think the answer for this is - invitations to all those who passed SET ?)

When do they send invites (as 2nd stage Nonsuch is on 3rd Oct) ?

How does the second stage result is notified by both the schools?
Do they tell us the scores? (2nd stage score Or combined score of both stages ?)
Is there any thread on the past scores which would give us some idea about the probability of getting into these schools ?

PS : Sorry, quiet a few questions, hoping to get replies from experienced DPs.

Thanks

You will get an email along with all others who took the tests, telling you either a pass or fail.
With a pass you will automatically be invited to sit the 2nd stage exam.
How does the second stage result is notified by both the schools
For the girls GS , I think you get told the score along with Pass or Fail, normally an email. The number of candidates each school pass is always more than
the number of places available. This is because not all candidates put the school in their CAF form and some opt for Indi when they get the offer through.

Thank you newdud.

Does anyone know what (total) mark would likely to get an offer from nonsuch and wallington girls ?

Something similar to Essex consortium one - http://www.csse.org.uk/images/simplefil ... -10-14.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi Roselyn,
Last year around 900 got invited to the second stage which was about 40% of the total.
Everyone who passed got invited to both.
You then get seperate emails from Nonsuch and Wally about part two. The part two notifications were only a few days before the test. It was a roughly alphabetical split with the first half of the alphabet in the morning at both, the rest afternoon. You cannot request which sitting or change it.
Last year there was no info about how many did part two at Wally but the Nonsuch letter with the part two result gave a pass mark, top mark and child's mark.
It also said ( from memory ) that around 925 had passes SET about 100 less sat part two at Nonsuch and about 725 passed it.
Last year if you passed part two you had a very good chance of a place. In fact we didn't know anyone who didn't end up with a place who had passed,so they must have done the calculations well.
Best of luck.
