new poster - advice please

hello all,

this is my first post so please bear with me!!

My son is in year 5 and already I am stressing about the prospect of him sitting the entrance exams for independant schools!
I would love to have advice as to what I should be doing with him at this stage in preperation for the exams in approx 12 months time.

I do appreciate that it is a bit early however my son doesn't really respond well to intense pressure so I thought if we start early then he won't feel it so much. He's stronger subjects are English and VR, Non VR he is average at and his weaker subject is maths and to that end he is having tuition to help him.

My plan is to concentrate on spelling / improving his creative writing and comprehension

I would dearly love to see him get a place at Merchant Taylors, although he seems to have a preference for Habs.

Doeas anyone have any advice / tips as to what I need to do to give him the best possible chance would be greatly appreciated!!!!
