Chesham Grammar, JH school reviews

Post by pond of sharks »

Hello everyone

DS has passed the bucks 11+ test and we are looking for possibly applying for JH/CGS.

He is very much into swimming and is more inclined towards creative side than being on mathematics / science (so far). Can any JH/CGS parent shed some light on how is their Swim programme (if they do have one).

Any/every feedback is thanked in advance :)

Cheers

As I posted on the other thread - are you in catchment?

One is single gender and one is mixed ... quite a big difference imho!

No swimming programme at jh.....not sure why as its directly opposite a big leisure centre with an Olympic sized pool, but maybe the logistics didn't work out.
Swimming pool s at rgs but for health, fun and water safety more than a sport as far as I can ascertain. They do a term of pool activities in the short pe lesson each school year, water polo mainly once they can all swim properly.

Might be worth asking jh directly about swimming as I am aware of a group of dedicated parents who are pushing ( ever so gently) for jh to get involved in the schools swimming league. There is a wealth of talent in the school & an independent 6th form team did partake recently in a competition. So jh position on swimming may change although still not sure they would put swimming on the timetable.

If DC is a good swimmer there are many children that train in the morning with WDSC & then wander over for breakfast at 815 (never any earlier as then they have to put out tables & chairs)

Good luck with your decision.

We are Outside Catchment area for both JH and CG and aim to move if we secure a place at one of these. However, the order of preference will be down to what best meet DS' needs. Hence the enquiry :)

Thanks
