Hi, does anyone know how is St. Bernard's school in Slough? I haven't come across much opinions about this school. Please can anyone advise? Thanks!

Afternoon vinni77

We really liked it when my dd and I went around there at their open morning recently.

They test to see what kind of learner your dc is, to see how best they can help them learn.
In one lesson that we saw (the kids were working on problems), some of them had headphones on which were playing background music, to cancel out the general classroom hubbub and help them concentrate.

It's the school that my DD wants to go to (it's on the top of her CAF). Of course, having a really large sports hall plus *two* libraries doesn't hurt as far as she's concerned  :D
I will add that we're practising Catholics so it also makes a lot of sense to us.

Hi vinni77. My child is in year 7 at St Bernards and has had a very positive start to secondary education. It is a lovely school. Small enough to give it a family feel but large enough to ensure good subject options. The school is in need of some decoration and repair and they are the first to admit this but you need to see past this. The children are engaged and Happy. There is obvious mutual respect between the children and teachers. The pastoral care and support offered to the children is extremely good. I feel that my child is challenged but not pressured which is what I wanted for him. It is a Catholic school and this is a major part of the school and the teaching. You would have to be happy to accept this. Around 20% of students are non catholic (mostly other Christian religions). I hope this helps you.
